One of the best historical romances that I have read in a long time. There is adventure, love, excitement, PLOT PLOT PLOT. So many romances are just sex with an excuse for story tacked on. Not this one. I highly recommend it to anyone.

mystery in the plot.I was intrigued by this book. It's main focus is a mystery and unusual for Harlequin, I felt the romance was secondary to the plot but was definitely still there. The heroines grandfather is missing, her brother is killed, she is struggling to keep her family fed. Her brother's last breath is spent begging his partner to bring something to his sister and to protect her. Little does the hero know what he has promised but he is a man of his word. So he leaves his work in forieg [...]

This book is more than a little cheesy. Cheesy to the point that it borders on stupid. The writing is only so-so, and the author tells a great deal more than shows, which is always something that bothers me immensely. Chione's big "secret" is nothing - and a bit dissapointing after the whole book builds up to it and it leads her whole life. The action is poorly written and actually quite boring - it's also hard to follow what's going on. This book is not wretched, it's just not particularly good [...]

Action, adventure, romance, mystery and danger all serve to make AN IMPROPER ARISTOCRAT by Deb Marlowe a wonderfully thrilling read.Treyford was a decidedly intriguing blend of rake, adventure seeker and scholar that at first I thought wouldn't work—the first few pages certainly make him seem like a typical rake, but Marlowe develops him into a worthy hero of the story. He doesn't make excuses for his behavior or his past; he is what he is and feels justified in his beliefs on love.Chione Lati [...]

The Earl of Treyford, 'Trey', was both spent and tired. While on a dig in Egypt his partner, Richard, was killed. Trey made a deathbed promise to return a scarab adornment to the young man's sister and, at the same time, promising to protect her. Preparing for an older spinster he was taken aback when he finally returned to England and met the beautiful Chione. With an undertow of suspense this unusual Regency romance avoids the typical 'ton' of London. Instead, we have a mishmash of characters w [...]

Another lovely, wonderful tale.Starting to two very different locales, the author brings the various characters together slowly and with an enormous amount finesse. I could not have believed the ending, except that it was built up to so perfectly. The villians are delicately sketched and built, just as the hero and heroine are. The supporting cast - well, the supporting cast are perfect, from the half-naked French woman to the children, to the various people who assisted Chione throughout the ad [...]

The Earl of Treyford left England for a life of adventure in Egypt, but he finds himself unwillingly returning to his home country when his business partner and friend Richard Latimer is killed by mysterious thieves. Richard's last wish was for Trey to protect his sister Chione. He arrives to find Chione struggling to keep her family and estate together after the death of her brother and the disappearance of her grandfather. Chione and Trey are soon buried in a mystery surrounding the family and [...]

Lots of action. I am hesitant to complain about how all the ends were tied together. Usually, I whine about loose ends in books, but in this case, the reveal of Chione's background made me groan just a tiny bit. I suppose it did help her feel some sense of belonging, knowing her mother's background. This is why I feel like I'm whining needlessly - it's all for the story.I took a bit off my rating because the ebook didn't have the cover with Paul Marron (the reason I bought the thing in the first [...]

I'm not normally a fan of romances with kids in them but I enjoyed An Improper Aristocrat. I loved that the heroine was of mixed race and had such a rich backstory.

This was part mystery of ancient Egypt and part cheesy romance. It wasn't quite a good mystery and not that great a romance. I had a hard time reading this one.
