A funny and genuinely laugh out loud 'comedy/sci fi/fantasy' book. I really enjoyed this book and getting to meet the characters that populate it; along with the slightly off-kilter universe they all inhabit. I don't want to give away any spoilers here goes my attempt at trying to explain it. If you like Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett or the lovely Robert Rankin then this is a book you should read. Set in South London the whole novel takes place over the course of just one day: Boat Race Day. [...]

Highly entertaining. Any book that has a geriatric drag queen fist-fighting vampires is fine with me.

This was a really funny book to read. An out of the ordinary story set in Putney South London at the time of the great Cambridge and Oxford boat race with characters that just make you laugh - Johnny who's half dead and Lola his girlfriend, a bit of a tough nut, are particularly funny. The Putney Vampire Killers have to save the world in less than 12 hours. They take on a host of vampires, zombies and fish demons to name but a few and travel through time in an infinity cube. A unique story line [...]

While it took a chapter or two to get hooked into the characters/storyline, I really enjoyed this book! Lots of sub plots which all intertwine beautifully. Well written and a fun read. Can't wait for the next one!!!

Giveaway Win. A brilliant little book, funny care free, vampires. What isn't to like about it?! I enjoyed reading this book and if you're thinking of reading? Do so.

Anna Thomsen has achieved a Dickensian-style fluency by balancing many interesting and quirky characters in a very amusing and wryly satirical first novel. It never flags, and, like Dickens, the dialogue always sparkles and delights. The novel also contains many insights of a mystical nature which gives the text even more depth and interest. Ms Thomsen projects her quite original ideas very well and it shows in the polished prose and well observed characters. The fact all the action is set in a [...]

A very funny comedy written at the pace of a page-turning thriller. It is hard to place the exact genre of this book. The dialogue is superb and there were moments I actually spat out my drink with laughter. My daughter thought I was having a fit! It is character driven and they just leap out of the page at you. I love the characters of Lola and Max and they should have a separate book together - they have such a chalk and cheese interaction and there is a strange sexual tension there - or is th [...]

This story has a lot of heart. It is a very quirky and funny book and was not at all what I was expecting to read nor something I would normally read. It goes off at a million miles an hour and keeps building up to an off the scale epic finale. Based completely on one road in a day with a strange but compelling group of off-beat friends taking on everything thrown at them in an attempt to save the world. Very good.

Hilarious book! I really like Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett and this is along those same veins. Scifi/fantasy comedy isn't something (done well) that I come across too often so I was pleasantly surprised by this. The ending left me wanting more so I hope there's a sequel soon!

The scenes between the staff guardian and Maisie on the time ship had me in tears!
