“I think the things we desire the most in life are the things that were withheld from us. The things we never got from the one person we wanted them from the most.”Sole Sisters is the sequel to The Boots My Mother Gave Me which was an absolute five star read for me. I fell in love with all the characters, the sentiments and the beauty and was so excited to read the sequel. I think I really did need to read book one first before this one as I have lost a lot of the story and had to pick it up from another angle, so I advise you read book 1 [unlike me]Kat never talks about her abusive past, its far too painful. And her pregnancy. She's moved to Nashville for reasons and also to advance her fashion carer. The trouble is, she finds her inline for some publicity, this makes her front cover of the Ville Spill. Its a local gossip rag. Kat then learns that not all publicity [...]

Received a copy in exchange for an honest review“Forgiveness - it’s so elusive, isn’t it. Felt so strongly one moment, only to wane out of reach the next. But to not forgive, to hold onto that condemnation, it seeps into every aspect of our life, our being like a noxious gas through the crack of a door, somehow sabotaging forward progression, crippling all that is and can’t be good.”5 emotional stars. This book is so beautiful and beautifully written. The characters are so well written [...]

In the first book The Boots My Mother Gave me , we meet sisters Harley and Kat . The first book focused on how Harley was the subject of abuse from her father and introduces us to the boy who saved her Jeremiah and her prized possession from Benny - her first car "Charlene". In Sole Sister , many years have passed and Harley is married to Jeremiah and has children and of course her car Charlene is still going solid . Harley is now a songwriter and musician and her sister Kat designs boots inspir [...]

Katrina “Kat” LeBeau is packing up to move her and her daughter Megan to Nashville so they can be closer to Kat’s sister Harley LeBeau-Johnson and her family. Kat has been trying to rewrite her life, and this seems like the perfect opportunity. Harley is married with two children and making a name for herself in the music world. Kat has plans of her own with “Soul Sister”, where she designs custom boots. The girls find themselves on the cover of a local rag, The Ville Spill, which prop [...]

How long I have waited for this book, and how worth the wait it was! Harley’s story in ‘The Boots My Mother Gave Me’ was one of the most intense and incredible journeys I have ever had the pleasure of reading, and I became so attached to the LeBeau girls and their loves and losses, that the chance to see Kat’s life after all the pain inflicted on her, was something very important to me.From the word go, ‘Sole Sister’ grabbed me into the world of Kat and Harley LeBeau and I felt like [...]

Big thanks to Brooklyn and Charlotte for an ARC copy for review. I just loved Kat and Connor's story. I was so exited when I found out that Brooklyn was giving Harley's young sister, Kat her own book. Just like her older sister, I wanted Kat and her daughter, Megan to get their happily ever after, especially with everything that they went through in the past. These girls deserve the best. It's a story of new beginnings, opening your heart to love again, letting to of the past and finding unexpec [...]

Sole Sister is the sequel to The Boots My Mother Gave Me. If you haven't read the first book, do so now. It's an amazing story that has ranked in the Top 100 on two Kindle lists - Coming of Age and Women's Fiction and was named an Breakthrough Novel Award Quarterfinalist. It even has a soundtrack, penned and performed by the author. The book is both heartbreaking (domestic abuse threatens to destroy an entire family) and uplifting (the resilience of the main character, Harley, whose spirit can' [...]

I did not read the first book in this series, but that was totally okay. Not only did I feel like I got little bits and pieces from the first story, but this book is fantastic as a stand alone anyway. (And now I really want to read The Boots My Mother Gave Me.)I won’t lie. When I first started reading this story, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. I thought something like this: “Here we go again. Another gorgeous foreigner in the US, with a hot accent. And a woman who was a little wild [...]

Brooklyn James is just so darn goodI don't know how she does it but she has this ability at capturing feelings and putting them on paper. If you haven't read the first book in the series ~The Boots My Mother Gave Me~ STOP Seriously you need to read it to know what this book is going to bed she sure did not disappoint. That being said following Kat's journey was an enjoyable ride. I didn’t read the first book yet. But I really loved and enjoyed this story of Katrina ‘Kat’ LeBeau, she moved to Nashville to be closer to her sister and her family. Kat decided to introduce her fashion line Sole Sisters. Of course nothing can be easy. I really loved how the plot went. The author kept is going and the whole story I really couldn’t put down. Even though I hadn’t read the first book I had no problems reading this story of Kat and her daughter. Kat is a single mother, wh [...]

Kat hasn't always done things easy. Relocating to Nashville she starts her Sole Sister business. Kat didn't plan on getting involved with anyone but when Connor comes along she is pulled to him, and doesn't want to let go. When Kat finds out who Connor's ex is she wants to run away. Will Kat give in to love again or will she continue to let her past haunt her.

I don't even have the words to describe how much I love this book! Sole Sister is the perfect follow on from The Boots My Mother Gave Me and carried on the story from Kat's viewpoint. It was great to catch up with some of my favourite characters and see where their lives have taken them. Love love love!

The love between two sisters really shows in this plot. No matter what they go through they are still there for one another. Something you barely see in today's world. So it was a nice change to escape from reality with this book. The past they each have makes you wander just when or if they overcome it. An overall great book!*Received for an honest review*
