The Hard Hat was a great book for a athlete. It has a life lesson every chapter of the book. Although it was short, it was still an awesome book to read. It starts with how a player from Cornell died. He was a huge part of Cornell because he was the leader of the lacrosse them and did so many great things for the team. The narrator didn't play with George, but he did play at Cornell. The book shares a great story and George shows how to be better teammate and better athlete in whatever sport you [...]

The Hard Hat is a book written by Jon Gordon. This book really pulls you in and makes you want to keep reading. I would highly recommend this book because it shows you how to be a great teammate in anything you do and the right attitude to have when you live life. The book is about a man named George Boiardo who goes to Cornell University to play college lacrosse. George is the type of guy to go 110% at everything he does. He leads with both his words and his actions. If a guy was talking bad ab [...]

As I read this inspirational book about a young athlete that was killed during a lacrosse game, I was often reminded of my own son, Jacob. The subtitle of the book, 21 Ways to Be a Great Teammate, says it all. George was a selfless athlete working to be a great teammate and leader. I enjoyed the gentle reminders of what a difference one person can make in the lives of others.

Great guy, good story, just reads very dry and boring. I've read many true, inspirational stories and this one was just boring.

Inspirational read with plenty of actionable ways to become a better teammate - in sports or business.

Awesome story! A great individual that did no more than his best every second of every day. Also, great ways to implement the point of the story.

The hard hat is probably the most motivational book I have ever read. Not only does this book have an amazing story, but it will also motivate you to work harder and do better in life. I thought that this book was originally supposed to be only for athletes, but it can relate to anyones life.

The Hard Hat By Jon Gordon is a nonfiction story about George Boiardi who played for the Cornell men’s lacrosse team. George Boiardi started his freshman year playing one position then, at his first lacrosse game he got switched to a new position unannounced. George did not complain of his new switch and did what was asked of him. George worked hard, came to practice early, and went to as many extra practices as he could. George also worked hard enough to be put on the varsity team. George was [...]

Cole's lacrosse coaches recommended this book to the team. George Boiardi was a great player who made everyone on his team at Cornell better. Tragically when he was a senior, he was killed March 17, 2004 in a game. His parents comforted the team even though their hearts were broken. The team made the decision to honor George by living and playing like him. George believed in a quote by Ben Franklin: Well Done is Better Than Well Said. That is how George lived his life. This book was written 11 y [...]

Great Book on Being a Better TeammateOverall this was a short but excellent read. I was inspired by the story of George and how he was able to impact his teammates and family after is death. I liked the fact there were pictures of George at the end of the book to make him more human. Which leads to my only issue: the book made George look so transcendent that he could have been Jesus. I believe that he was an enormous blessing to be around. With that being said it seemed he did everything except [...]

Quick read. Every coach should read this book and share it with their team. In fact, a copy of this book should be given to every member of the team and then to every incoming freshmen on sports team thereafter. The 21 ways to be a great teammate are based upon the traits of George Boiardi, a Cornell lacrosse player who died during a game his senior year in 2004. His legacy lives on through a foundation named in his honor and his teammates. He continues to influence players, not just in lacrosse [...]

Touching Story of Someone Who Made a Difference in Such a Short Time Having read all of Jon Gordon's other books, picking this one up was a no brainer. Very quickly I realized that this book was very different from the others. After reading this book you can add my life to the number of people that George has touched and made better. I strongly recommend this book for anyone that wants more from life. In reading this book it has cemented the realization that to get more from life I have to be an [...]

By far this was the best book written by Gordon. The true story of George provides the backbone needed to captivate readers and embrace the concepts of being a great teammate. I gave my review a 3 (although I would have preferred 3 1/2) because I have never felt totally in love with Jon Gordon's writing, as he tends to become repetitive as the book goes on, but George's story and his inspiration to others made for great reading. If I was going to recommend an inspirational, motivational, team-ce [...]

Different than his othersI really enjoyed the perspective this book took on differently than his other ones. Gave a personal touch rather than his other stories. Very good lessons like his other books, really good story, but hearing the impact of what an individual team member can make when they do the things Gordon talks about makes you want to see the results. Definitely recommend if you enjoy his other books, are a coach or athlete, or just love lacrosse (which I know nothing about).

A good quick read about George Boiardi, a Cornell lacrosse player, who tragically died during a game. His legacy lives on through a foundation named in his honor. We learn of character attributes to strive for and 21 ways to be a great teammate. The author tends to be repetitive and sometimes George is portrayed as a saint, but his story and how his life inspired others made for great reading. 3.5 Stars

Short and sweet. The book gets a little weird in that it deifies George in a sense. George becomes Jesus as in follow George, and what would George do? (The latter is explicitly said in the book). As a Protestant I felt a little uncomfortable with this at times over praising of a person who is passed away and a spirit ya mysticism of George still being present with us. But like said short and sweet.

This is one of my new favorite books, it has lots of great things about becoming a great leader and teammate. I will definanlty use all 21 way to be a great teammate in my life. The story about George is amazing to hear about how much a stud athlete he was, but he won't be remembered for being good, he'll be remembered for being a great person and a great leader.

This quick and easy read uses the life of a Cornell Lacrosse player, George Boiardi to illustrate 21 ways to be a great teammate. Simple leadership principles are illustrated with small vignettes from George's life. These principles should be easy to apply, easy to review and easy to share with your teams or co-workers.

The Hard Hat - Well Done is Better than Well SaidOutstanding book on the power of influence. I love the quote used by George and his Family - "Well Done is Better than Well Said". Motivational read for anyone serious to have positive impact on the lives of others. Great job - Jon Gordon!

George Boiardi was a member of Cornell University's men's lacrosse team and passed away during a game in 2004. The legacy he left behind as a teammate is remarkable and inspirational. Jon Gordon takes 21 principles from the type of person and teammate George was to provide a roadmap for how to impact those around you and leave a legacy with your life.

While perusing news releases at the local library, the photo and the phrase "great teammate" grabbed me. As I started to read I realized it was mainly about a Cornell lacrosse player and his impact. A good, quick read with some reminders about ways to be a good teammate and some thoughts for character attributes to strive for.

I was required to read this book for my college softball team. While it had a good story to it and good intentions as well as morals that it tries to teach, the story seemed unreal. It seemed like they tried to make the man it was about larger than life and possibly better than he really was. I'm not sure because I didn't know him, but no one is that perfect.
