The cover was one of the first things that caught my eye about HERE IN MY HEART. Although I had not previously heard of the author, once I read the book blurb, I thought, this sounds like a nice Sunday afternoon read. Turns out, it was IN MY HEART had the usual small town characters and love gone wrong, and it was all very well written. But, what left an impression on me was the small town in which the story takes place. The author writes of a small town where everyone knows everyone else, where [...]

This is a good addition to the Mimosa Lane series -- although it only touches on some of the people in the earlier books and sets up the next series. Dru is a grown-up former foster child, Brad was always around as he was friends with her older 'brothers'. Due to a large misunderstanding he left town and has been living and working as a cop in Savannah, but keeping tabs on Dru via his grandmother. He comes back when said grandmother is dying, reconnects with Dru, they work through their misunder [...]

Another wonderful must read contemporary romantic fiction by the talented Ms. DeStefano, who never fails to deliver an awesome feel-good read! Great details & descriptions of a small town setting with caring and sometimes nosy friends & families, who are always there for each other! There are lovable characters, some more frustrating than others, a sweet story-line with some great life lessons to pull from and a few different plots happening that keeps the reader engaged :) Yep, there [...]

Dru Hampton has a pattern, when Brad Douglas comes to town, avoid, avoid, and avoid. Years ago she had been seen a future with Brad, problem was he didn't feel the same and left. Now he is back and his Grandmother has made a rule to her will, co-habitate in order to keep two things both don't want to see go. Dru and Brad square off but as they once again grow close, Dru questions if she can give her heart to Brad again.Entertaining story. I liked the chemistry between Brad and Dru. Brad is charm [...]

Anna DeStefano tells such wonderful stories and I always look forward to reading her books. She has such a fresh perspective! As with many books this one deals with a crush that Dru Hampton had on Brad Douglas. It ended badly because of a problem with one of Dru's foster brother's and his girlfriend. Brad moved away and whenever he visits his grandmother, Vivian, Dru keeps him at arms length. Dru eventually takes a job in a restaurant that Vivian owns and becomes a part of Vivian's family. Then [...]

In Anna De Stefano's novella spinoff from her Mimosa Lane contemporary romance series, we return to the small community of Chandlerville, Georgia. For Dru Hampton, she ran the radKIDS program and worked at the Dream Whip restaurant. She was a strong role model for her younger adoptive sister Lisa with the Dixon family. But she had issues of her own, when she was reunited with her former childhood sweetheart, Officer Brad Douglas. They were separated seven years ago and now come together again, w [...]

I did not care for this book at all. I found it uninteresting and tend not to care for story lines which include what I consider betrayal. Brad betrayed Dru in the worst way possible and then left town causing unrepairable heartache to them both, affecting their lives from that moment on. It was certainly not a feel good book and there was a real lack of groveling on the part of Brad.I would not recommend this book, especially if you are negatively affected by having the man you love turn you do [...]

When I'm in the mood for something that challenges my emotions with the story of two hurting people that really make the romance a hard fought for thing, Anna DeStefano's books are some of the ones I grab for. Seriously people. They are not for the faint of heart when it comes to tough romance and broken characters because these characters will get you mumbling irritating words, crying for their circumstances and just begging them to do what they have to do for their own slice of happiness. Well [...]

A special thank you to Montlake Romance and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.3.5 StarsHere in My Heart: Anovella (Echoes of the Heart Series, #1) by Anna Destefano, a light southern read set in a small town, of forgiveness, redemption, risks, romance, and empowerment. Dru loves her life in Chandlerville, Georgia a charming suburb northeast of Atlanta. As an infant, she had the Dixons, a loving foster family who’d gifted her with a community and friends and a world where sh [...]

Even though Dru Hampton was raised in the foster system, she lucked out. She was taken in by a loving family and has built a life to be proud of. Her biggest regret has always been Brad Douglas. Brad was her older brother’s best friend, and someone she grew up around. Even though they always treated her like one of the guys, she was head over heels for Brad. Until one night changed everything. Acting on impulse, she let him know of her feelings for him, only to have him push her away. Brad’s [...]

This is a sweet romance that will tug at your heartstrings at every turn. I'm not usually a real fan of second chance stories, when someone has pined after someone for years, in this case seven. All these teenage angsty crushes show up a bit much, but with Anna DeStefano's novella, you have two characters you really can't help but root for.Brad is really a perfect guy, and as the story progresses, it is hard to imagine anyone hating him for any reason. He's a bad boy turned good, and he's precio [...]

I received this from Netgalley to read and provide an honest review of the book. This is the story of Brad and Dru. Both have a history, from back when Brad and Dru were growing up together. Now, they have reunited because Brad’s grandmother wants them to keep her homestead and restaurant going when she passes. Brad has returned because Dru called him in Savannah where he lives to let him know his grandmother is fairly close to death, and he needed to come. This is a story filled with memories [...]

I received this book as an e-ARC free from Netgalley. Below is my review. This book may be in the middle of a series, but it stands very well alone. Dru and Brad: it's just a mess. Dru has been broken up over Brad's behavior for years. Not only did he go from her kiss to another girl's bed, his actions drove away her brother never to be seen or heard from again. Brad went on to pull himself together and make something of himself elsewhere. She stayed in town and works with children and runs his g [...]

This is a short story, I read it in less than one day. I have found that I really enjoy a good short story, if the author is able to get to me to connect to the characters in that short time I am reading. Anna DeStefano was able to not only get me to connect, but to get me to become friends with Dru and Brad and the rest of the small town they live in. I did not want the family restaurant to be sold or their house to be sold. Dru and Brad had to figure out how to reconnect and not hurt each othe [...]

Super cute, super short novella from “new to me” author Anna DeStefano. My first impression was that she is a solid writer. Great storyline and some really good characters had me liking this book. I really liked the way we are introduced to the two main leads, Dru and Brad. It was instantly known that they had a past, and there was a hope of a real fight to get their future. However, I just didn’t really connect to this couple. Maybe it was due to the length of this novella or that we kind [...]

Disclosure: Reviewer received free copy.I have to admit that I’m partial to Anna Destefano’s work. It took a lot to get me to read a romance novel a few years ago and one of my Anna’s books was my first. I keep reading now, because her writing keeps getting better. Sometimes there’s nothing better than a beloved grandmother who uses her last days on earth to put together two people who should have never been apart. Here in my Heart, a wonderful novella, may be the reunion story of high s [...]

This book takes you on Dru and Brad's journey. I loved the strong woman Dru was. She worked had, loved hard and gave back to the community. She grew up in a loving foster home and successfully managed a restaurant. She also taught young people how to empower themselves and get themselves out of bad situations through the radKids program. Still she struggled with a place to belong not knowing that she had already achieved that. Brad also struggled to find his way in the world. He became a police [...]

The book was well-written and had a wonderful storyline about love and trust. A sweet heartwarming short story. You can't help but fall in love with the town! Anna DeStefano writes of a small town where everyone knows everyone else, where people still live at a slower pace and care about one another. It is a place where families know the name of their waitress and the waitress knows the family and service with a welcoming smile is the norm. This was a GREAT beginning to what is going to be a GREA [...]

This book is so much more than a novella. I fell in love with the characters on the first page. Dru is a sweet young woman who was orphaned as a baby, Brad was raised by his grandmother. Brad was friends with Dru's brothers and Dru tagged along. Brad was Dru's first and only love. Vi, Brad's grandmother is dying and she puts together a plan to get these two together. This is the first Novella in the Echoes of the Heart Series but it wasn't the first time we met some of these characters. Here in my Heart is a great companion to the Mimosa Lane Series. Anna DeStefano is a brilliant story teller. She has created one of the most beautiful and magical towns out there. Where bad things sometimes happen to good families and communities ban together no matter what. Here in My Heart is a wonderful way to kick off a new series. Second chance love stories are some of my favorites and I couldn't help getting caught up in Dru and Brad's story. Vivian, Dru's boss and Brad's grandmother, has them working and living together. With the childhood sweethearts having to live and work together, there is little chance they can resist their feelings for each other. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley. I really enjoyed this story. It was full oh heart. Vivian may seem abrupt but she has such a soft heart. Brad has come home after years of staying away to be with his grandmother. Dru (although I liked this book I was not a fan of hers until a little over halfway through the book). It's a story of redemption and goodbyes. Be sure to have some tissues handy.

Great read! I love these Echoes of the Heart books. Set in a small Georgia town with great characters and that small town sense of community is wonderful. This story is about Dru, the hardworking waitress at the Whip and Brad, the guy that left her seven years again. It's a heartfelt story of the two of them working through the issues and fighting to have a second chance at love. A definite must read!

Another visit to familiar characters in the Mimosa Lane series. Anna Destefano has written another great read. The main characters are reunited by a dying grandmother. They have loved each other for years but because of misunderstandings think that each are better off without the other. Anna brings elements to the story dealing with problems relevant to today. If you haven't read the Mimosa Lane series this will stand alone. But I recommend the whole series

I wasn't a fan of the heroine, but I really enjoyed the cast of secondary characters. I felt like I would have liked the hero, Brad, a little more if he hadn't been so willing to put up with the heroine's (Dru) stubbornness and lack of confidence in herself. If you like small town romances and don't mind a plot moppet who her own (pretty great) secondary story, then I think you'll like this.*I received a free copy of this book, but all opinions are my own.*

Great introduction to a new series! The town and its people are great and I can’t wait to read the next books in the series. Dru and Brad have stayed away from each other far too long and his dying grandmother’s wish brings them back together. I loved Vivian and the way she manipulated them into finally admitting their feelings for each other. Sweet, funny and sexy – a perfect read for a relaxing afternoon. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
