Philosophy of physics In philosophy, philosophy of physics deals with conceptual and interpretational issues in modern physics, and often overlaps with research done by certain kinds of theoretical physicists.Philosophy of physics can be very broadly lumped into three main areas The interpretations of quantum mechanics Concerning issues, mainly, with how to formulate an adequate response to the measurement Philosophy of physics History, Problems, Theories Philosophy of physics Philosophy of physics, philosophical speculation about the concepts, methods, and theories of the physical sciences, especially physics Read about the logical structures of the most general physical theories of modern science, together with their philosophical motivations and implications, in this article. Philosophy of Physics Space and Time This concise book introduces nonphysicists to the core philosophical issues surrounding the nature and structure of space and time, and is also an ideal resource for physicists interested in the conceptual foundations of space time theory. Physics and Philosophy The Revolution in Modern Science At the turn of th century when quantum physics was born the founding fathers of this scientific revolution were thinking deeply about the philosophical consequences of the new physics in terms of existence and physical reality ontology. Holism and Nonseparability in Physics Stanford It has sometimes been suggested that quantum phenomena exhibit a characteristic holism or nonseparability, and that this distinguishes quantum from classical physics. Physics Study Guides SparkNotes physics Want to know why and how matter and energy behave the way they do From the structure of atoms to the properties of heat, light, and sound, we explain physics in plain English. Digital physics In physics and cosmology, digital physics is a collection of theoretical perspectives based on the premise that the universe is describable by information. It is a form of digital ontology about the physical reality According to this theory, the universe can be conceived of as either the output of a deterministic or probabilistic computer program, a vast, digital computation device, or Albert Einstein Quotes Famous Quotations on Religion Albert Einstein Quotes Quotations on Philosophy, Physics, Religion, Science, Metaphysics Humanity, War, Peace, Education, Knowledge, Morality Freedom Ether from Eric Weisstein s World of Physics Ether, or luminiferous Ether, was the hypothetical substance through which electromagnetic waves travel It was proposed by the greek philosopher Aristotle and used by several optical theories as a way to allow propagation of light, which was believed to be impossible in empty space It was supposed that the ether filled the whole universe and was a stationary frame of reference, which was

Finally picked this back up and finished. It's been a while since I had my physics classes, and I've never properly studied philosophy, so this book was a bit of a challenging refresher/introduction. Worth reading for a better grasp of quantum theory and how it puts philosophical questions such as free will vs. determinism, or mind vs. matter, into a new frame of reference. It is fun to think about things which lie at the very edges of our ability to comprehend.

Physics and Philosophy is a very intriguing and thought provoking read. Although written in the 1940's much of the analysis seems just as relevant today as when it was written. James Jeans gives particularly lucid explanations of some of physics most opaque theories and makes interesting connections to problems in philosophy such as free will vs determinism and materialism vs mentalism.

'Twas intriguing to learn the world views of one of history's great physicists, written by Jeans himself.

Not too technical. Good book on the philosophical underpinnings of physics. Also takes an historical approach to the whole issue.
