The Crimson Pact is an anthology based on the story “ The Failed Crusade”. The premise here is that demons have come thru the veil, and are loosed upon the universe to wreak havoc in different ways depending on the type and level of demon, and world they find themselves in. The participants in The Crimson Pact have sworn a blood oath, doing whatever it takes to defeat and drive them from their world. It is interesting to see where the stories lead given the origin story’s parameters. Every [...]

The Crimson Pact is an anthology that introduces a group of humans who have vowed to destroy demons that have escaped their world to wreck havoc in other worlds. All the stories share a common theme, but each author showcased has brought their own unique creativity to the table and has created different worlds and situations. I would even go as far as say that this book is a great blend of genres. I have read my fair share of anthologies, but this book truly is unique in that all the stories hav [...]

Paul Genesse has done a fantastic job creating a universe in which stories from the same world can be told in a limitless number of worlds. I loved reading various authors' interpretations of similar demons inhabiting different worlds. The other thing I loved about this book was the mix of short stories and flash fiction. Just when I was ready for a short story, a flash piece would come along and shock me with the quick ending. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because it was too dark [...]

Yes, I have a story in this anthology, so this review is just about the rest of the book. All I can really say is that this is a massive book filled with a wide variety of cool stories about demons in all sorts of different settings, different times, different dimensions, and different styles. Read it now, then look for The Crimson Pact, Vol. 2--now avaiable in print, as well as Nook and Kindle.

This anthology has stories of mine included, so it would be in bad taste to rate it. That being said, I'm quite proud to be involved with the project, and feel that I'm in the company of some excellent authors here.

I did not know what to expect when I started reading the Crimson Pact, but I found it to be a great read. The variety of writing styles and settings were fun to experience. I liked getting the writers' insights as well. The stories ranged from action pact to dark and despairing. There were even a few romances thrown in. This was actually my first experience reading steam punk, but I don't think it will be my last. A number of stories are left with an ambiguous ending, but I think that adds to the [...]

Finally getting to this! Great reading so far. It's hard to make a reader simultaneously suicidally despairing and wanting more in the first three pages, but somehow this book manages. Way to go, Patrick!

An anthology of based off a short story entitled The Failed Crusade, many talented writers have contributed demon-hunter stories. I especially enjoyed the variety of writing styles, theme constructs, and approaches to continuing the premise introduced with The Failed Crusade beginning.

Heaven and hell, angels and demons, the battle between good and evil is an enduring theme that will never grow old. The last time I was fighting demons was on the PS3 in Darksiders so the prospect of a compilation of short stories involving battles against demons was certainly appealing. A variety of authors came forward to contribute to this collection but is this a selection of gems? The compilation begins with The Failed Crusade where General Cruek Ostor has won yet another battle against the [...]

Right between 3 and 4 stars for me. A smattering of short and flash stories about demons. Some really good stuff. A few fairly poor ones. On the whole, a decent read and fun to boot.Read my full review here: elitistbookreviews
